STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WAOW) — An alert for people who entered a Stevens Point dairy store’s ‘Name That Cow’ contest — with organizers warning of a credit card scam.

Feltz’s Dairy Store says a fake Facebook page is contacting people who submitted names for the store’s new 10-foot tall cow, with the fake page telling those people they won the contest. It then is asking them for credit card information.

“We’re not going to ask you to pay for something that you won,” said Jake Feltz of Feltz’s Dairy Store.

He said that more than 1,300 people entered the contest; of those, he knows of about 10 that have been contacted by the scammer.

“The only time we’d ask for a credit card is if you come in and fill up a shopping cart and want to buy a couple pounds of cheese,” he said. “We’ll ask you to pay for that, but for a giveaway, we would never ask anybody to do…
