LUCKNOW: The vigilance department on Wednesday grilled former BSP minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui in connection with Rs 4,200 crore scam involving construction of memorials in Lucknow and Noida under Mayawati government.
Vigilance department is likely to continue questioning of the former minister on Thursday too.
It is also planning to interrogate another former BSP minister Babu Singh Kushwaha on July 23.
Probe in the scam was initiated after a Lokayukta had indicted 199 persons including the then BSP ministers Naseemuddin Siddiqui, Babu Singh Kushwaha, and 12 BSP MLAs in 2013. Siddiqui is now with the Congress.
A source in vigilance establishment privy to the probe said that notices had gone to 40 accused persons which includes former BSP ministers-Naseemuddin Siddiqui, and Babu Singh Kushwaha and 20 other then government officers for recording their statements.
