It has been a while, but Evergy is warning customers of scams involving people trying to represent the company as they take your money.

Spokesman Andrew Baker says there were a lot of reports just Monday of people claiming to represent Evergy and demanding immediate payment to avoid service disconnections. Baker says those people are not employed by Evergy, which will never demand payment the same day it disconnects service.

Other customers received suspicious calls where the caller claims to be a customer service employee before trying to get credit card or other personal information. The scammer then tells the customer a…
