Barclays promoted a swathe of senior capital markets bankers as the UK lender continues to reshape the top of its investment bank.
Tom Johnson and Peter Mason, who have been leading its equity and debt capital markets business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, respectively, have been promoted to co-heads of capital markets in the region, according to people familiar with the matter.
As a result of Johnson’s promotion, Manuel Esteve, the former JPMorgan banker who joined Barclays last year, has been named head of ECM for Emea, they added. He had previously headed up the unit for continental Europe.
Esteve spent over 18 years at JPMorgan until he moved to Barclays in August last year. Johnson has been with the UK lender for nearly 12 years, having joined from UBS in 2009, while Mason has led Barclays DCM business in Emea since 2019.
